Gene Costume for "Anna Christie"

The audience went wild and insisted on curtain calls for Gene Marshall after only the First Act of "Anna Christie"! Here she is in her initial costume that sets the tone for her character - a small town girl forced by circumstances to join a "house of ill-repute".
The 30's style long sleeved dress is provocative with a slit neckline and a slim skirt with a little flare at the slit hem. The silky fabric is a burnished gold herringbone design completely lined. Accents of red top-stitching are brought out further by her red slip-on high heels. Gene's matching print purse and hat (with its fetching side feather!) add beautifully to her role, as do her hoop earrings. She carried the navy cloth suitcase on-stage in her opening scene.
Our replica is lovely and made in the USA. The dress closes with snaps in back. You may purchase the complete costume including the dress, shoes, earrings, hat and purse or just the dress, hat and purse. The suitcase is also available.

Limited Edition of 10

Gene Marshall Costume for "A Midsummer's Night Dream"

Gene appears for her curtain calls as Hermia in this lovely costume with fluid lines inspired by Grecian drawings and sculpture. The textured satin zipper fabric drapes beautifully and is trimmed at the hems with gold machine embroidery in a Greek key motif.
A replica of this costume is available in a Limited Edition of 10. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. Gene's costume is designed by Barbara Steinberg and made for DOLL FASHIONS UNLIMITED in the United States.

The skirt of Gene's costume laps over itself in back and fastens at her waist with snaps. The hem curves to leave an opening at the skirt back for ease of movement and to reveal a glimpse of Gene's lovely legs. The top of Gene's costume also wraps around her torso to drape over one shoulder, leaving the other deliciously bare. A gold filigree pin is the perfect accent on her shoulder and harmonizes beautifully with Gene's gold coin earrings.
Gene wears her hair pulled back and hanging past her shoulders with a portion of it twisted with pearls and braided. On her feet are white high heel sandals from Kingstate.
As Gene appeared in front of the curtain she was presented with a lovely bouquet of red roses tied with streamers of red, white and blue in honor of the Fourth of July holiday. Gene was very touched to learn that Olivia de Haviland had sent the roses with a card "Congratulations from one Hermia to another!"

Gene Costume for "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Gene takes her bows as a very lovely Gwendolen in this beautiful costume - just right for Victorian England and "The Importance of Being Earnest".
A replica of this costume is available in a Limited Edition of 10. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. This ensemble was designed by Barbara Steinberg then made for DOLL FASHIONS UNLIMITED in the USA.

Gene's costume is a soft blue linen afternoon dress with matching capelet (we've used a linen-look fabric for our replica). The dress has leg 'o mutton sleeves and a center tuck on the bodice front; both are trimmed with pink braid. A pink cameo nestles below the high ruffled white collar. The bodice is lined and closes in back with snaps. The fashionable flared skirt, slightly fuller in back, ends in a band of soft pink linen and then an elegant blue pleated ruffle. Underneath Gene is wearing a white organdy petticoat eged with a ruffle plus pink slip-on heels.
In the Second Act, Gene wears a matching blue linen capelet over her dress; it's lined in pink linen and trimmed with more pink braid. A tiny hook and loop closes the capelet at the neckline. The crowning glory is her hat - it's a pure confection of pale pink satin, sheer ruffles, satin ribbon and tiny pink flowers. (Hat pin included). For a closer look at Gwendolen's dress under the capelet and her hat click on doll.
A final touch is the pink suede bag with a delicate gold chain handle. Outfit will arrive on a Gene sized wire hanger!
